Abra Amwake was a 4-time All-Conference volleyball player while competing for Central High School in Phoenix, Arizona, and was selected to the 2001 All-Arizona team. While competing at Scottsdale Community College, her team took 2nd in the national tournament and she led the nation in digs-per-game with 6.8. Moving on to Holy Names University in the Bay area, her team finished conference runner-up in both 2004 and 2005. She graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2006 with a BA in History, and twice was selected Holy Name's female scholar athlete of the year. Continuing her post-graduate education at Arizona State, Amwake earned a MA in secondary education, graduating Summa Cum Laude in 2009.
Amwake was the head coach at McClintlock High School for three seasons, and was named Coach-of-the-Year her second season. Between 2004-2006 Amwake coached club girls 12's and 15's at Norcal VBC and was the head 16-1 coach at Arizona Sky VBC during the 2007-2009 seasons. Amwake is currently an assistant women's coach at San Diego CC and plays regularly in beach tournaments, aspiring to play on the AVP. In 2010 Abra was seleceted to the All Tournament Team at the 2010 USAV adult national tournament. Last year she led her 13's team to a 5th place finish in the SCVA and a 13 Open Volleyball Festival Championship in Phoenix.
