A three-year starter at the University of San Diego, Jackie Bernardin concluded her career as arguably the best back row player in Torero history. She was the West Coast Conference Defensive Player-of-the-Year three years running from 2003-2005 and the USD Team MVP in 2003. Bernardin is USD’s All-Time Dig leader and led the Toreros in digs in 2004 and 2005. She was Team Captain her senior season and also earned First Team All-WCC honors. Bernardin graduated with a BA in Communications in 2006.
While at USD she began her coaching career. Her senior year she held an Internship as the USD Summer Camp Coordinator where she promoted and organized all summer camps for all USD sports, including volleyball. The next fall she was hired as an assistant coach at the University of San Francisco. She also organized all the USF summer camps and coached a U17 club team. The following season Bernardin moved to the University of New Mexico where she served as an Assistant Coach. She assisted in every facet of the program and UNM achieved their first winning season in 15 years. She also coached the New Mexico Juniors 17’s before returning to San Diego to coach club volleyball.Coach Jackie Bernardin is in her first season as an assistant at Point Loma Nazarene. Her main duties for PLNU are to assist in technical and tactical training, oversee team defensive strategies, coordinate student-athlete recruitment, oversee summer camps and clinics and coordinate community outreach projects.
In her first season as a Wave coach last year, Bernardin's 15's won the National Division at the Spokane Qualifier to earn a bid to the Junior Nationals. Bernardin is entering her second season as a Wave coach.
