Kyle is originally from a small town in northern Illinois and is a recent transplant to San Diego. He spent the last 14 years living, working, and going to school in St. Louis, Missouri. To say that he is excited to finally escape Midwest winters is an understatement!
Kyle has been coaching high school and club volleyball for the last 10 years and is in his first year at Wave. His club coaching experience includes leading his Southwest Illinois 181 teams to the 18 Open division at USAV Nationals twice (2008, 2009) and his Saint Louis CYC 171 teams to the 17 Open division at USAV Nationals twice (2010, 2012). In 2008, his Southwest Illinois 181 team won gold at the Northeast Qualifier in the 18 Open division. Twice his teams have placed in the Top 10 at nationals: 2012 USAV (7th place) and 2014 AAU (5th place). Over the years Kyle has coached more than 20 current and former NCAA D1/D2 volleyball players, two of which have been named NCAA D1 First and Third Team All-Americans and several more that have earned all-conference honors in their respective leagues.
Kyle graduated with a B.S. in Math from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in 2005 and returned in 2012 to receive a M.S.Ed from SIUE in Education Administration. While an undergrad student at SIUE, Kyle was a part of the men's club volleyball team for 2 years. He is currently a high school math teacher at Canyon Crest Academy.
When he is not at the Wave tent, you can find Kyle at the beach, playing grass volleyball in Balboa Park, or on a hike at one of the beautiful trails in SD.
