Rachel grew up in Manhattan Beach and graduated from Mira Costa High School, where she played both Volleyball and Soccer. She played 10 years of club volleyball in the South Bay, winning two silver medals at the Junior Nationals and being a part of many top teams. Growing up in Manhattan Beach, she was an avid beach player. She won or was top 3 in multiple junior and adult tournaments starting when she was just 10 years old. Rachel earned her AA rating when she was just 14 and at 16 she won the AAU Junior Nationals.
Morris continued her athletic career at the University of Oregon where she was a starting setter and earned the 2007 Most Improved Player Award. She also spent a year as a head coach for the Storm ‘n West Volleyball Club in Eugene. After graduating with a BA in Sociology from Oregon in 2010, Morris moved to San Diego.
Rachel has been coaching club since 2010. In 2018, she was hired as the Head Varsity Coach at La Costa Canyon High School after spending 5 years at Canyon Crest Academy as the Co-Head Varsity Coach. The thing she loves most about coaching is getting to inspire young players to achieve their dreams. She believes volleyball is more than just a sport and has learned many of her own life lessons through playing and coaching the game. She loves to pass on the knowledge she has learned throughout the years and watch the players grow in all areas of the game and life. She has helped coach many teams to high achievements at Junior Nationals including 2 bronze medals, a silver medal, and two 5th place finishes. Rachel is entering her 7th year here at WAVE.
