Van joined WAVE in 2023 coaching the younger programs.

He started coaching as a student assistant in high school and coached for Albuquerque Volleyball Club during graduate school. As a parent, he had a lot of fun coaching his son's early soccer teams.

Van's coaching philosophy is to provide a nurturing environment for kids to not just improve their volleyball skills, but to develop perseverance, teamwork, and a love for the game. He also focuses on developing good technique and all-around skills so they can play volleyball for the rest of their lives.

As a player, he started playing in high school and continued to play club volleyball at Washington University in St. Louis. After college, he continued to compete, with his adult teams winning their region and earning spots at the USAV Open National Championships in both Columbus and Denver.

Fun facts: He grew up in South Carolina, enjoys spending time with his wife, son, and dog, and can play only one song on guitar.
