Will is a native San Diegan and discovered his love of volleyball one summer through pickup beach volleyball games. From there he went on to play for Torrey Pines where he was on varsity for three years as an outside hitter and libero. He also played for WAVE his senior year, which was the club’s first year having a boy’s team.

While he was a student at UCSB, Will played libero for the school’s club team and won two state club championships. Off the court he volunteered with an at-risk youth sports league where he coached several sports and discovered that he enjoyed working with kids, and after graduating in 2011 he’s been teaching and coaching all over San Diego. Currently he has the privilege of doing both at San Dieguito Academy, where he is the varsity girls volleyball head coach.

Will’s coaching philosophy emphasizes teamwork, mental toughness, and using mistakes as learning opportunities. He wants his players to leave the gym with skills they can use to improve themselves both on and off the court.
