1. What programs does WAVE Beach offer?
WAVE Beach consistently offers a year round comprehensive Beach Club with options for Girls and Boys.ย In addition, we also offer a school year ISPE program for middle school students that have been accepted into their districtโs ISPE Department.ย Our ISPE student athletes earn their schoolโs PE credit while training in the sand with us!
2. What is the cost of the programs?
WAVEโs cost is competitive with high-caliber elite volleyball clubs in the Southern California region. Cost varies by age group, program and commitment level. All cost information is readily available on the registration pages for each program (HERE).ย Costs cover the practices, administrative fees, coaching expenses, and equipment costs.ย For any athlete participating in beach tournaments, families are responsible for any tournament/tour membership fees, tournament entry fee, related travel expenses, and room and board.ย WAVE coaches will be present at specific tournaments, to coach active WAVE Beach athletes.ย WAVE Beachโs โBeach Clubโ Tournament Guide can be found – HERE.ย
3. Where are practices located?
WAVE Beach has two practice locations.ย Our โBeachโ location is commonly known as North โDogโ Beach in Del Mar.ย Our โFacilityโ courts are located one mile to the east of our beach location at WAVE Volleyballโs South Gym and outdoor Sand Court Facility in Del Mar.ย We have lights at WAVE!ย Address and driving directions can be found – HERE.
4. How does Daylight Savings affect practice times?
Our Monday through Thursday practice times at North โDogโ Beach adjust from month to month while we are experiencing Daylight Savings time.ย Sessions will either be offered from 3:30-5:30pm, 3:45-5:45pm or 4:00-6:00pm depending on the available sunlight.ย *Those in our Beach Club Afternoons at the Beach will be notified on a regular basis when a practice change will be taking place.ย
5. How does weather influence practices?
Beach practices are typically run in most weather conditions.ย If changes to practices are going to be made on a certain day, our active members can expect an email and SMS/text message from us with any practice changes or adjustments.ย If we end up cancelling a particular training session, we will share about upcoming make-ups our athletes can potentially attend with us.ย
6. What should be worn/brought to practice?
We highly suggest that athletes wear comfortable athletic clothes while also packing: sunscreen, hats, sunglasses and have water to drink.ย There will be a supply of water, sunscreen and loaner sunglasses at each practice location.ย As the sand warms up or cools down with the seasons, we recommend socks.ย Sand Socks along with a variety of other WAVE Beach items can be viewed and purchased – HERE.ย
7. Is WAVE beach gear required to be worn at practices and tournaments?
While it is not mandatory, it is highly encouraged.ย WAVE beach gear is available at the WAVEโs South Gym and can be purchased online (HERE) or by walking into the entrance of our South Gym Indoor Facility.ย Operating hours are generally from 10:00am-6:00pm Monday through Friday.ย Address can be viewed – HERE.ย
8. Do you offer individualized training/private lessons?
All WAVE Beach coaches offer lessons โ view the Beach Coaches (HERE)ย to help you in your selection and contact them personally.ย If you have further questions, you may contact Matt Olson by text (760-473-8511) or email (Matt@wavevb.com).
9. Do I need a partner to attend Beach Club, ISPE, or Clinics?
It is not necessary to have a partner to attend.ย We do a lot of partner pairing within the scope of the practices to help you find a successful match.ย However itโs never a bad idea to bring/sign-up with a partner if you have one in mind to be able to work on your โteamโ skills.
10. I Have Questions About My Payment or Balanceโฆwho Can I Contact?
Please email the CFO, Kristen Dean (kristen@wavevb.com) for any questions regarding finance or balance information. You may also be able to check your order history of online purchases if you have a login account. Our EIN is 45-5579314. Please consult with your tax professional.ย Please note refunds for our programs are offered for injury or for schedule changes with ample advanced notice only, and are provided at the discretion of the club.
