Being coachable starts before the first rep. 🌊
It means listening with intention, being open to feedback, and being willing to make adjustments. It also means having the confidence to say, “I don’t understand,” instead of moving into a drill without knowing what you’re trying to accomplish.
Coach Juliana reminds us that even the simplest drill has a purpose. Pay attention to the details, ask questions when you need clarity, and communicate with your coach so they know you’re on the same page. Then, put that instruction into practice.
A nod or an “I got it” is only the beginning. Growth comes from how you apply what you’ve learned, respond to corrections, and carry those adjustments into your next rep.
Every rep is an opportunity to get better. Being coachable helps you make the most of it.

Happy National Coaches Day to the people who make WAVE what it is. 💙
Our coaches are so much more than the ones standing on the sideline. They’re mentors, motivators, role models, hype people, and sometimes the reason our athletes are laughing through the toughest practices. 😂
They push our athletes to work harder, believe in themselves, and become better, not just as athletes, but as teammates and people. They celebrate the big wins, help us learn from the tough losses, and somehow make even the longest days a whole lot more fun.
Our coaches help shape the culture, community, and heart of WAVE. We’re so grateful for the time, energy, passion, and love they pour into our athletes every single day.
To all of our incredible WAVE coaches: thank you for everything you do. We wouldn’t be WAVE without you.
Happy National Coaches Day!
