Coach Kara brings with her over 15 years of experience as both a player and a coach. Driven by a strong work ethic, sense of accountability, and focus on making the small details important, Coach Kara experienced success at every level in which she has played, from club to high school to the collegiate ranks. As a coach she emphasizes those same themes to her players as she works to help them to develop into the best players and people that they can be.
An Oregon native, Coach Kara began playing volleyball in the fourth grade and her love for the sport took off from there. Initially playing as a middle blocker, Coach Kara helped her team to 2 State Titles (2009,2010) and 1 State Semi-Final appearance (2008). Along the way she garnered All-Conference honors in her junior and senior seasons (2009,2010). At the club level she was a Junior National Champion (2010) with Nike NW Jrs. Volleyball Club. Following a stellar high school and club career, Coach Kara went on to attend and compete for California State University, San Marcos (CSUSM) as it launched its women's volleyball program. The CSUSM program achieved success immediately - becoming Conference Champions in all four years that they were in the NAIA Division. Unfortunately, Coach Kara sustained a back injury her sophomore year which led her to medically retire for her senior season. Though she was not able to play, Coach Kara still remained an important part of the team, serving as co-captain during that season.
Coach Kara began her club coaching career at 951 Elite Volleyball Club in Wildomar, CA and Laguna Beach Volleyball Club before coming over WAVE VBC. While at 951 she worked with teams in both the 18's and 12's divisions, enjoying both age levels for a variety of reasons. While at LBVBC she worked with the 16’s division. Coach Kara became an assistant coach at Concordia University in Irvine in 2016 and served as a graduate assistant for the program.
Coach Kara earned her Bachelor's of Science degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Health Science from California State University, San Marcos (2015) and a Master's degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration at Concordia University. In spring of 2018 she began working as the Operations Assistant at SDSU for the Volleyball program.
