Makana is a WAVE Alum and joined the coaching staff in 2024! After high school, Makana played at Kent State (2020) and Ateneo de Manila University (2022). She started coaches in 2022 at La Jolla Country Day for the Varsity Women's Volleyball Team!

As a utility player herself, she likes to have her players learn multiple skills to round out their game. She believes that if you put yourself in playing situations with older girls and playing at higher levels, you will begin to play like those players by just being exposed to different higher levels plays.
