Maria joined the WAVE Coaching Staff in 2026! Her coaching history includes:
- Girls Travel coach since 2010
- Youth development program director
- Regional teams technical director,
- Boys High school Coach

Maria played high school, travel, and collegiate indoor volleyball. As an adult, she has competed in women’s open beach tournaments.

Her coaching philosophy is centered on developing confident, disciplined, and resilient athletes through strong fundamentals, consistency, accountability, and intentional practice. Maria believes in holding athletes to high standards while creating a supportive environment where they feel valued as both players and people. Her goal is to teach athletes to embrace challenges, learn from mistakes, take ownership of their growth, and understand that confidence is earned through preparation and effort. Above all, she wants every athlete she coaches to leave the court stronger, more confident, and with a genuine love for the game.

Fun facts: Maria was born in Cuba and raised in South Florida. Her husband is in the military, she is a mom of two, and dog mom of 3. Maria has a background in behavior analysis and love horse back riding!
