Maricris began playing volleyball in 7th Grade at Francis W. Parker. She attended The University of San Diego High School (now Cathedral Catholic High School), where she played volleyball, basketball, and softball for the Dons. She also played volleyball for San Diego Juniors. During her high school career, she was a three-year varsity starter. Maricris was named Second Team All-League her Junior Year, First Team All-League & MVP her Senior Year. She attended Gonzaga University and studied Finance and International Business. While studying abroad in China her Junior Year, Maricris played for Chongqing University. After college, Maricris moved back home to San Diego, worked in sports and medical sales, and played a lot of beach and indoor volleyball.
Maricris focuses on developing athletes to make them both mentally and physically stronger. With her firm yet fun, high energy, she shows them how to positively work hard and play hard. She teaches her players how to be selfless, which makes them better team members. She also educates her players how to apply these skills to be a better person in everyday life. It is a priority for Maricris to build confidence in every student-athlete.
Maricris is married to her husband, Virgil, a fellow alum from USDHS, football player at USD, and a football coach at CCHS. They have 4 children, Donovan, Ike, Maxwell, and Ava. When Maricris is not in the gym, she spends a lot of time with her family. She is also involved with CCHS Dons alumni and loves giving back to her Alma mater.
