Jasper joined the WAVE coaching staff in 2023! In addition to coaching at WAVE, he is the Head Coach for the San Dieguito Academy Varsity Women's Volleyball Team. He also spent the 2023-2024 season as the lead assistant coach for University of St Katherine Men's Volleyball Team.
Jasper started his volleyball career in the summer between 8th and 9th grade at WAVE participating in a “mini-season”. By that fall, Jasper had already fallen in love with volleyball, while making the top club team at WAVE. Jasper played for four years at WAVE, highlighted by achieving a notable top 5 finish in the open division at nationals. He was also selected to represent USA Volleyball in international competition, playing for the SCVA Youth National Team at the USA Volleyball High Performance Championships in 2018. Jasper’s team earned a silver medal while competing against teams from countries such as Canada, Australia, Puerto Rico, and The Dominican Republic.
Most importantly, Jasper is a proud alumni of SDA, having graduated in the class of 2019. As a student at San Dieguito High School Academy, he played volleyball for all four years of high school, highlighted by a CIF D3 Championship and a CIF D2 2nd place finish. He was also selected as team captain, MVP, and earned multiple all league first teams. Jasper takes the most pride in helping the team make the transition from division III to division I, while trying to earn respect for SDA Boys Volleyball and SDA Athletics in general.
Jasper then earned a volleyball scholarship to play for and study at the University of Toronto in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. At UofT, he is pursuing studies in Evolutionary Biology, Geoscience, and Data Science. As a player, Jasper made a significant impact in his freshman season, being selected as a member of the OUA All-Conference Rookie Team, OUA All-Conference Second Team All-Star and nominated for the University of Toronto male rookie athlete of the year. His team qualified for its first national championship tournament in 20 years, and won its first OUA medal in 2 decades. Jasper considers his greatest volleyball accomplishment being his appointment as team captain in his second season, where he guided the team to a second consecutive qualification for nationals and a conference silver medal.
Apart from his passion for volleyball, Jasper enjoys a diverse range of interests, including fishing, golfing, cooking, photography, ceramics, and an appreciation for outdoor activities. As a coach, his goal is to provide both technical adjustments for players’ individual skill sets, while encouraging a constant 110% effort and positive attitude for players both on and off the court.
