Coach Hunter joined the WAVE coaching staff in 2023!
Hunter started coaching in 2016 at Seaside Volleyball Club during the summers he was back from college. Hunter began coaching various age groups and skill levels through camps during his early years of coaching. Once he graduated, Hunter shifted toward the 17s and 18s teams to help with defensive and offensive scheming and technical work.
Hunter signed a contract to play overseas at Durham University in the United Kingdom while receiving his master's in marketing. While there, Hunter coached the University B team, tasked to teach fundamentals centered on player development and enjoyment. Hunter then moved to Orange County and saw the opportunity to become a floater coach helping boys' and girls' teams at Tstreet Volleyball Club.
Hunter played his college ball at Concordia University, Irvine, where he was a 4-year starter. Accomplishments across his college career include being the school record leader in total blocks, solo blocks, block assists, sets played, and matches played. Hunter was also an NCAA All-American, 2x MPSF All-Conference, 2x NCAA Academic All-American, 2x MPSF All-Academic selection, and the 2019 Concordia University, Irvine Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Hunter appreciates the amazing opportunities that volleyball has given him but understands that it came from hard work, on and off the court. Hunter believes the mental game of volleyball is even more critical than the physical and that training correctly will give you the best opportunity to produce results.
